Gina Yu is a medical student at the University of Michigan completing the Stanford Global Health Media Fellowship. She believes the foundation for practicing good medicine derives from properly capturing the patient’s perspective and she strives to emphasize the power of narrative and storytelling within medicine. Her passion is in advocating for and sharing the stories of the medically disenfranchised. She completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard University, where she served as a columnist for The Harvard Crimson and wrote on medical ethics. She looks forward to learning more about how to utilize journalism to promote good health practices. She also hopes this fellowship will help her to become a better medical professional and researcher and a leader in global health change. In her free time, she loves to cook Korean food, climbing and painting.
