Astrid Casimire is from the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago. She received a bachelor’s degree in human biology with a minor in creative writing at Stanford University in 2019. She’s loved writing all her life and recently decided to pursue journalism to put this passion to use and highlight important stories. This past summer, she worked as a print and broadcast intern in her hometown, and previously wrote for The Stanford Daily about campus life. She wants to specialize in health and science journalism, and also enjoys covering higher education, the impact of natural disaster, culture and music and issues affecting the Caribbean diaspora. In her free time, she enjoys playing and listening to steelpan music, reading and blogging.
