Project Description

With rents so high people are renting out tents in backyards and living out of vehicles, master’s students in Fall 2015 focused on reporting the range of issues related to the high cost of living in Silicon Valley. They looked at how the region was struggling with displacement of residents, development disputes and the ongoing tension between growth and preservation.

The students’ stories were published on Peninsula Press, with pick-ups from partners at and KQED.
