Lily Wang

Lily Wang is a Chinese international student who graduated from USC with a degree in journalism and a minor in visual narrative arts. In her reporting, she takes a human-centered approach to stories, producing in-depth multimedia pieces that feature the complexities behind the headlines focusing on culture, food and social justice. Her research work with Rain Media earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Research for documentaries in 2025 and received 3.6 million views on PBS Frontline. At Southcn.com, she produced multimedia data stories on the local economy which sparked her interest in data journalism. In addition to her journalism experiences, she has also supported the localization strategy for Phantom Blade Zero, a Chinese AAA video game and conducted commercial due diligence for a private equity firm. Across all of it, her focus has been the same: bringing understanding to complex systems and communicating what matters to audiences. At Stanford, she is excited to explore how to tell in-depth stories with the support of data analysis and interactive storytelling, hoping to make her stories more accessible to wider audiences. Outside of work, Lily enjoys photography, traveling, skiing, and trying out a new recipe in the kitchen.
