Katherine Beard

Katherine Beard is a 2024 Colorado College graduate with a bachelor's degree in film & media studies and Hispanic Studies and a minor in Journalism. While at CC, Katherine (Kat) worked as the photo editor and head editor to the Colorado College Outdoor Journal, a student and faculty publication focused on equitable, outdoor storytelling, and as a photographer for the Catalyst. She has written and/or photographed for several publications, POWDER Magazine, the Colorado Springs Independent, Trails Magazine, the Crestone Eagle, Snowboarder, GearJunkie and more. Since graduating, Kat has worked full time in marketing for a travel startup where she learned valuable multimedia and audience analytics skills. She also received a grant to co-direct, NAPAKŌ, a short documentary detailing the Coahuiltecan language revival in southern Texas. Outside of full-time work, she has freelanced as a videographer, photographer, writer and creator in the outdoor, environmental and travel sectors. While at Stanford, she is excited to pursue human-centered stories at the intersections of travel, environment, outdoors and sports.
