The Seattle Times was named a winner for investigative reporting triggered by breaking news by Investigative Reporters and Editors for its work in uncovering negligence and cover-ups following a deadly landslide in Washington state.

Dan Nguyen, a leading developer in the field of data journalism, will join the Stanford Journalism Program as a Lecturer in the Department of Communication. He will start teaching in fall 2014 and will help develop the opening of the Stanford Computational Journalism Lab.
